Happy Birthday To Me
Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.
Thomas Edison
This year was a year of challenges and uncertainties, but they were for good.
I had to find a new job and found a perfect place where I can grow further in comfort and with support of others.
I have published a subscription based project in hopes of making something usefull and generating an income, but it barely gained any users. It still gives me signs that I do something right despite that progress is slow.
I have started this blog which I’m happy someone visits.
The markets crashed, but I stayed consistent and have not gave in, this brought to me positive results.
This is the year of AI and maybe I should pay attention to it more. I think LLMs are here to stay and it’s a big step of AI becoming mainstream. I believe this is an opportunity for developers and not a demise.
Lessons I learned:
-
Question everything and find a reason. If you cannot identify a reason, maybe it’s not worth investing your time into it any further. The things you do or things to which you pay attention should have a reason.
-
Trust people and let them fail, you don’t know everything. As long as people don’t do catastrophic mistakes, it’s fine to let them do what they want. Interrupting or completely taking control takes away their experience and they are more likely to do it again.
-
Stick with what you know and be sceptical of trends. If it’s not something completely new or something that doesn’t do things 10x better than your current tools, it’s probably not worth looking into.
Next year I want to be filled with adventures and new things. I want to learn more and advance myself. I want to publish projects and help others. I’m excited for the future and I’m full of hope.
